Mast Map

About

We’re working hard on automating the process of mapping 5G locations, but we need your help…

Unfortunately every local council seems to use different terminology (and systems), this makes the automated process far more difficult than it should be. If you’d like to see a map of masts in your area, please do consider helping out. Further details can be found below the map below.

Accuracy

At this moment in time, this map should be considered nothing more than a potential list of 5G masts. Due to the nature of how different councils record applications, it’s very hard (near on impossible sometimes!) to verify whether it’s a 5G mast or some other kind of telecoms mast. If you’re uncertain and want to know more about a specific location, click on the planningURL link and sometimes you’ll find associated documents on there which may (or may not) give details on the technology being used.

How can I get a map of my local area?

Step 1: Go to the official gov.uk website and enter your postcode to get the link for your local council website.

Step 2: Visit your local council website and navigate to the planning area.

Step 3: Unfortunately every council is different, but try to find the section where you can search for planning applications. It may take a while but it should be there somewhere.

Step 4: In the “advanced” search box, see if there’s a dropdown for the “Application Type”. With any luck there may be one (or more) relating to “telecoms”, select that and see what results come up.

Step 5: You’ll probably notice not every mast you know of appeared in that last search. Switch to the “basic” search screen and try searching for a keyword. We’ve found different councils use different terminology, they don’t make it easy for us to find what we’re looking for!

Some search terms we’ve found to be successful are:

  • 5g
  • pole
  • mast
  • telecom

Step 6: Once you’ve found which searches give the best results, please use the contact form and send us the following details:

  1. Subject: “<your_council> Mast Scanner Info” *
  2. The link to your local council planning portal/search.
  3. The various search terms which worked best.
* replace <your_council> with your actual council name.
